We are all on a spiritual quest whether we know it or not. Some of those are completely ignorant of this and yet they still are searching. Others believe they have found their path by trying to be the best person they can be. They go to church most every Sunday and read scripture or study that which they are given by theologians or other teachers, but they are only being taught what others think. These thoughts then become their own, but they are still based on the illusions created by mind.
Ego is what generates these thoughts from things that are made up from the senses. Everything is in essence made up from false impressions, even its very existence is untrue. The truth is not to be found by the mind and yet we believe it to be true. The physical evidence points to the ego being our self.
Truth of self is not known by the mind and cannot be known by mind because it is not something that the senses can grasp. It doesn’t come from outside in the physical realm, but from within. There exists another sense that can only be known by the higher self. The self that continues. The self that has no beginning and no end. The self that awakens when we let go of the self we believe ourselves to be.
What you really want is not what the ego wants. The ego tells us that we want to be happy, comfortable and living a peaceful, harmonious life. The thing is that this is not what the ego really wants at all, or at least it never actually tries to get there. It only creates problems, and these problems it continually tries to solve, but it creates many more problems than it ever solves or is capable of solving.
To actually attain what you really want must come from within, but this cannot happen until you find out exactly what it is that you really want and why you want it. Finding out what you want is when you come to the state of being where you quit believing in the ego. Quit believing in the separateness that the ego creates and awaken to the reality that we are all one.
